INTERVIEW: Cloudland Music: Miami 2021

We interviewed the creators behind the great compilation: Cloudland Music: Miami 2021. Stay tuned!

Hi, how did the idea of making a compilation come about?

We've been doing our Miami compilations every year since we started the label back in 2011, The idea was to release original material from our artists that truly reflect what goes on during Miami music week, We wanted to put all those styles in one album without losing our signature sound. Putting together a compilation like this is quite a journey, which is no different from this Miami 2021 compilation.

What was the musical selection criteria?

We do our compilations a little different from other labels, especially if it's a compilation of original material, all the tracks that are included on our Miami compilations are exclusively made from scratch. Having good communication with each artist is critical for the production process & the type of vibe we expect from the artist. So In a nutshell, our selection criteria is more like putting a puzzle together, and let natural selection take its course.

What could you tell us about the producers that participate?

Every single producer that is part of the compilation has a cool story with our label, we are very lucky to work with a group of very talented & down-earth producers that we proudly call family. They are the reason why all this started in the first place, at the end of the day, they are the ones behind the scenes making all the magic happen.

How would you define your sound?

What are you trying to express? Emotional non-pretentious electronic music that messes with people's feelings.

Can you tell us who inspires your label and any artists you love who are on the release?

Some of the pioneers of electronic music that inspired our label are Armin van Buuren, Depeche Mode, Sasha, Paul Van Dyk, Markus Schulz Paul Oakenfold, Above & Beyond to name a few; and we been honored to be played & supported in their sets & radio shows multiple times. And as far as any artist that we love on this release, I think it is safe enough to say we love all of them.

Where is the label heading?

It is hard to tell now, we believe in musical evolution, times & people change, so as music. As long as we stay true to our roots & founding principles then we should be headed in the right direction.

Could you tell us about your present and future projects?

Yes! many projects in the works at the moment & new music to be announced in the coming weeks, with all the tools out there available to producers & things changing so fast in the music industry, I think now is the time to show the world what we do best.

Do you have any final words of wisdom?

Stay true to your roots
