We have had the pleasure of interviewing Massimo Conte and this has been the result. Enjoy!
What can you tell us about yourself and your experience getting into music? I was born with bpm in my blood, since I was a child I have loved music, I still remember when I bought my first vinyl record in the 90s, I had just turned 10 and I got a belt drive turntable to play vinyl as a gift bought at local markets. From there, a couple of years later, I began to specialise in mixing and began my career in the world of DJing. What have you been up to so far this Summer? I'm working hard on my new productions! After several years of playing records in Italian venues in Tuscany I pulled the brakes a bit, deciding to spend more time in the studio and trying to start working with venues abroad as a special guest. This route is still under construction and will still take some time but in the meantime I'm working at 360 degrees on new tracks! How is your sound evolving? What artists and genres do you enjoy mixing right now? I personally love house music! My DJ sets are influenced a lot by the audience in front of me but I love mixing house and tech house! I like to mix artists ranging from David Penn, Ben Kim, Sllash & Doppe, Riva Starr etc. How do you feel that your music influences or impacts your listeners? I believe that every self-respecting DJ has their own secret of influencing listeners! I personally try to influence myself first! I never work with playlists prepared before each DJ set but I prefer to have all my tracks always with me and create the lineup by always reading the track in front of me, this is what has always differentiated me from many colleagues and up to now my listeners have always appreciated! For your latest release you worked with Adesso Music label boss Junior Jack. What was this experience like? Junior Jack for me has been an icon of the house scene ever since I started mixing in clubs! Having had the opportunity to collaborate with him for his label was a huge pleasure, it gave me the opportunity to make my music known especially in the UK and I hope to continue to work again for this label. What is your process like in the studio? I have so many new ideas! I have several tracks waiting for a response with labels of caliber, as previously mentioned I'm working very hard on productions, this means that the time I spend in the studio is a factor in an ever-growing process. Can you tell us anything about your future projects? My future projects? Well surely I think I can reveal that in addition to the remix of "Goodbye" made by a great DJ producer Mihalis Safras, I will still be out on Adesso Music with a new release in October, meanwhile I have two more releases coming out and several tracks ready and waiting. Who are some of your favourite DJ’s right now? I follow David Penn a lot, I love his musical style but if I really have to point the finger at my favourite DJs I can name Jamie Jones or my compatriot Joseph Capriati who is currently carrying the Italian flag high in the world of night life.
