RADON and Auggië Debut on Marginalia with Three-Track ‘Worth It’ Release

Riding a wave of international recognition following the release of Elif’s Medusa EP and MANTi’s Call Out in September and October respectively, nascent Barcelona-based imprint Marginalia looks to continue its abundant run of top drawer output, with the unveiling of the label’s third offering in as many months – Worth It. Out now, this latest release sees label boss Elif welcome Argentinian producer RADON for his Marginalia label debut, as he pulls out all the stops to unleash a remarkable three-track package together with featuring remixer, Auggië.

Releasing under his birth name Nicolas Parrado until now, RADON – whose productions on Argentinian imprint Amancay have received hefty support from the likes of John Digweed, Adriatique, Echonomist, Aera, Sobek and Facundo Mohrr, amongst others – opens the EP with the groove-inducing title track Worth It. A unique house cut characterised by hypnotic rhythms and trippy, old school hip hop vocal samples, the Argentine makes his intentions knows from the off as he lays down a mind-bending club record that captivates from the off. Road tested to impressive reception at the likes of Afrika, Jet, Banana, Crobar, Bahrein and Niceto, this latest dancefloor weapon already looks set to enter the record boxes of the industry’s international touring elite over the weeks and months to come.

Up next, the releases middle order sees the Marginalia crew flex their acutely-tuned A&R muscles once again, as they invite Milanese producer Auggië (Innervisions, MoBlack Records, Eklektisch, Vokabularium and AZZUR) to put his own inimitable spin on RADON’s resounding opener. Turning RADON’s original on its head, Auggië’s innate ability to create thought-provoking records that embrace both the ears and the spirit is resplendent throughout the remix, as the ever-talented producer puts his own melodic stamp on the standout lead single.

Last but not least – and continuing his mission to explore and develop the more poignant, emotive manifestations of his diverse sound palate – RADON’s boundless creativity and flawless production credentials shine front and centre on the emphatic closer Diez Minutos. A deep, twitchy house cut, brimming with expansive, cinematic soundscapes, intricate rhythms and a mesmerising intermittent vocal refrain, this is RADON at his very best.

Speaking about the release, RADON commented:

““Worth It” was born out of my desire to make a new sound that will combine a mix of modern house and hip hop.“Diez Minutos” represents something similar, but leaning more towards dub. These were both made with the club in mind, and that’s why groove predominates in both of them. I also think it was a nice occasion to launch my new aka with this release at Marginalia. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do”.

About Marginalia:

The conceptual brainchild of Turkish-born, Barcelona-based DJ and producer, Elif, Marginalia is a new home for undiscovered electronic artists to express their unbridled creativity within a framework of absolute sonic freedom. Established as a platform to support, nurture and develop the incredible output of the unknown producers whose music forms the backbone of Elif’s DJ sets worldwide, Marginalia represents a forward-thinking community that looks to bolster the profiles of the hardest working – often least rewarded – individuals in the music industry; individuals without whom the scene’s ecosystem would collapse entirely.

The etymology of the name itself dates back to the 11th Century and references the wildly inventive notes, markings, doodles and sketches made in the margins of medieval books and scriptures — a place where the human imagination was free to run wild. Spurring uninhibited creativity, avant-garde thinking and a safe place of expression for largely undiscovered talent, Elif now looks to translate this age-old tradition into a twenty-first century paradigm and give back to the incredible pool of artists to whom she owes so much.

Unwavering in her mission, Elif’s commitment to showcasing the very finest electronic music whilst supporting burgeoning talent stems from her resolute pledge to the positive evolution of our beloved scene. Expounding this mission with a clear artistic vision running through all aspects of the label’s output and sound design, Marginalia now looks set to contribute to the on-going development of underground electronic music in both a refreshing and sustainable new way.
