Although Betonkust has gone through various stages in his creative process, covering a multitude of genres and styles, in "BAR06" (Bar Records) he manages to display an evolved, refined and enhanced sound, which consolidates the career of a producer who does not stop having notable virtues, presenting nuances so unique, that they manage to shape unique pieces.
Mainly known for his string of collaborations, most notably alongside Palmbomen II and Innershades, Dutch producer and DJ Betonkust has brought his machine-driven creations to labels such as Dekmantel, Pinkman and 1080p. For his new solo outing, he creates four acid-soaked recordings for Rotterdam's Bar Records that are tinged with the brooding harmonies and bittersweet melodies for which he has become synonymous.
Few producers manage to reflect as well the state of anguish and the need for euphoria in our society as Betonkust does on this album. Each track resonates from the depths, and manages to enter a unique and very personal sonic cosmos, covering a wide range of sound textures that will make our speakers roar.
We don't know what the future holds, but we do know that this album is a testimony to a troubled and uncertain present, which will remain in our memory forever.
