Disco Mortale

Actualizado: 27 oct 2020

"The inspiration at the moment is to get closer and closer to an obscure danceable vibe"

Disco Mortale aka Daniel Monaco, creates music that works in all settings and transcends genres. His openness to a wider range of darker sounds will make him a long time favorite, but also someone operating in his own parallel musical world. We had a chance to talk to him, so enjoy your reading and check out his latest releases.

Hey Where can we find you right now? How did you start off your day?

You can find me on the water I spent the whole day on the Canoe.

Can you tell us a little bit about your background? Where are you from / how did you get

into music?

Disco Mortale is Daniel Monaco alias which is gonna claim the space into indie, dark, EBM & Techno alike sounds.

About my background: Disco Mortale was born 4 months ago and I'm about to release a lot of stuff

With new release ‘Love Trax’ about to drop on the label. Give us a little background on the album and what’s the story behind that title?

No Story in particular is just inspiration in the moment, Disco Mortale is the rude version of someone else, I can tell you that I put care and love in my music although the message will always be obscure, I feel I just got started in this, I have inspiration and ideas for more edgy stuff!

What does your studio look like right now? What type of hardware / software do you like

to work with?

Disco Mortale at the moment shares Daniel Monaco gears but it's focusing more on instruments like Access Virus , Yamaha AN1x random sounds sampled by the Akai S2800 and loads of good drum machine samples. Disco Mortale is still growing and looking for his own space.

Probably in the future there will be much more use of distortion pedals in combination with rhythmical instruments.

Who have been your main inspirations (Both musical and in ‘life’)? And how have they

affected your sound?

I cannot answer this question: I'm just born as Disco Mortale. The inspiration at the moment is to get closer and closer to an obscure danceable vibe. I try not to follow other artists since I might end up copying them. It's the risk a new born artist can run through.

I just want to follow a feeling, vision, colour and sounds. The research is difficult but I'm just getting started.

How would you describe your own sound in 2020, and how do you see it developing in

the future?

It's getting darker, more to come.

Can you clue us up on any acts you are loving right now, especially any that other people

might not know?

If you listen to what labels like Mechatronica, Pinkman, MSQ Records, Mannequin are bringing out, you'll see how much fire power is available for people to enjoy. I'm horrible with dropping names. My sound is still far from there as I'm still working on shaping my vision. My goal will be definitely to release music for those masters. Like I said there is a path to walk before getting there. Only time will tell.

It’s difficult for everyone in our industry during the crisis - what have you been doing to

keep things going, both on the music and personal fronts?

I'm thankful for this interview but I don't wanna answer anymore Corona related questions, but I love you, you know that.

What projects are you working on at the moment?

I'm a side project of a main project I'm not allowed to own any other project.

Do you have any final words of wisdom?

I got no wisdom.
