Still fresh off the release of their first collaboration on Gorgon City label REALM earlier this month, Tel Aviv scene staples Adam Ten and Maori reunite on August 25 to present their next effort. psychedelic, “Spring Girl”. The track has been a coveted tool for some of the world's biggest DJs, garnering early support from the likes of Solomun, Michael Bibi, Vintage Culture, Diplo, DJ Tennis and more. The Once Secret Weapon is set to arrive as a single on Diplo's house/techno label Higher Ground.
We have had the pleasure of interviewing Maori, and this has been the result.
How did “Spring Girl” with Adam Ten come about?
Well at the time before we sat on the track together me and Adam were in contact After I signed with his label "Maccabi House".
Adam really helped me in my last push to release music and my main preference was to release it on his label, I sent him about 10 Tracks that I had in my drawer and was thinking about what to do with them, Adam caught one of the Track really well and said that we could take it somewhere interesting together. From here you already know what happened :)
What is the concept behind it?
The general idea of the track tells about a girl who basically doesn't have too many worries or troubles on her mind who just spreads love.
As for your studio, what is it currently made up of?
Not so much lol, I have 2 BM6A monitors, a Fireface uc sound card, a computer with many plugins and my brain ♥
What is the one instrument or piece of gear you would never get rid of, no matter what?
Um I've been playing guitar for as long as I can remember so I'd have to say bongos.
Haha I'm just kidding but I really think I fell in love with the sound of all the percussion instruments, an atmosphere of vacation and warmth that I just enjoy hearing and adding to every piece of mine, so without a doubt all the percussion instruments :)
Can you reveal some future projects?
There is a signed EP coming out during the year and some interesting remixes.
There are many more Tracks in the drawer that I am thinking of where to send them, or even release an album :)
If you could perform anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Um, the truth is that while I'm talking to you, I'm currently in Sweden on my first gig outside of Israel.
I thoroughly enjoy the atmosphere of getting to know different cultures, I really want to get to the big stages.
I would really love to come to the United States this year and in general to the biggest productions but I know that I still have a way to go :) ♥
Do you have hope for the future of music?
I definitely think this is just the beginning
What makes you happy?
My family, my partner, my friends.
Set goals for myself and achieve them, be better than yesterday.
To see the audience enjoying the music :)
Stupid dogs ♥ and babies who bring them to taste lemon for the first time.
