INTERVIEW: NODEN presents Last Night

We have a nice little QA with Londons Noden, it was a pleasure to sit down and pick their brains after their recent release.

Can you tell us a little about your experience so far in the music business?

We’ve been making records together for 3 or 4 years at this point.

Where are you from? and do you feel that has a big impact on your sound?

I’m from Essex and Dave is from Ireland, so I don’t think there is any real coherent shared musical thread that we can draw on sadly.

What artists and genres do you enjoy most right now?

Most recently; the last thing that grabbed me was the Clive From Accounts – Strictly Business EP; it is superb.

Was your new record a big endevour? or did it come together easily?

It came together pretty easily; we knew we wanted to make a bit of a deeper groove of a record; and when i came across that sample it all came together pretty quickly.

Has that sound changed a lot in recent years?

I’d say we’ve always been pretty all over the place, so this is consistent in its inconsistency.

Do you feel safe now to have a more experimental sound?

Absolutely; I think these days producers get a lot more leeway to experiment.

We all know that the digital revolution has affected sales, but has it affected creativity?

Perhaps people are a bit more “throwaway”, and in a rush to finish records these days. But having the ability to make records on your laptop definitely helps creativity to flourish.

Can you tell us whats next for you?

NODEN Beach Disco Edits - in time for the summer.
