INTERVIEW: Vibe Impact

Vibe Impact is a project of Russian producer Alexey Sukhanov. His first steps in production were taken in 2016. The first release was released on Soviett Records in 2018. After a break for several years, Alexey begins to actively release music in 2022 on the NEIN, Internasjonal Norway and TAKT Recordings.

Can you tell us a little about your experience? Where are you from / how did you get into music?

Hey!

I am from Nizhny Novgorod, Russia.

Since childhood I have been collecting electronic music on cassettes, CDs and vinyl.

Over time, I got like-minded people, began to DJ, and then compose my own music.

How is your sound evolving? What artists and genres do you enjoy mixing right now?

Now I like music with a characteristic Italian-disco sound. I love the sounds of vintage drum machines and synths. It's great when the music has an old school heritage and it's cool when it mixes with new trends in electronic music.

How do you feel that your music influences or impacts your listeners?

It's hard to say, first of all I compose music because I like the creative process itself, if my music evokes emotions in the listeners, I will be happy about it.

What projects are you working on right now? What can you tell us about your last job?

I just finished work on a remix for my friend. I am also preparing a solo release on the TAKT Recordings.

Where are you and what have you been doing now?

Now I am in my hometown in Russia. I work in the field of social services.

Has that sound changed a lot in recent years? What is your musical criteria?

I've only been composing music for a few years, ask me about it later! :)

Do you feel safe now to play a more experimental sound?

First of all, I want my tracks to be successful enough. Maybe after that I will want to do more experimental sound.

We all know that the digital revolution has affected sales, but has it affected creativity?

If we are talking about music production, digital technology has made it very accessible, opening the door for many talented people. I also believe that analog technology and instruments will always have their fans.

Can you tell us what your present and future projects are?

In fact, I want to find my recognizable sound, to make it of high quality. In the future, I would dream of releasing my music on vinyl.
