INTERVIEW: Volb3x presents Dark Light

Actualizado: 19 may 2022

Chromatic have the pleasure of interviewing Volb3x today, we sat down for a chat about his background and his thoughts on his music and the scene around.

Can you tell us a little about your experience and your background in the music business?

- I have been in this industry since 2016. Since I loved the Bigroom House style at that time, I started to produce songs in this style. I have worked on the future house, trap, and progressive house, then I decided to start from scratch to a professional career in G-House style with the name of VOLB3X and I still continue to work with this name today. In 2019, I have signed a record deal with SSL Music and it was a game-changer move in my career. Especially, after the release of Dark Light and my album called GVNG, my career started to grow amazingly.

Where are you from? do you feel that has a big impact on your sound?

- I'm originally Turkish, but I don't think that it has an impact on my sound. I like far eastern instruments more. For example, in my tracks called "Bam Bam" and "The Next Episode", I used an instrument called Sitar. It's a great sound!

What artists and genres do you enjoy most right now?

- These days, I listen Citadelle, Tokyo Tears, Otnicka and TwoRule. I really love the melodic & emotional style of electronic music genres.

What is the story behind your new release? how did it come together?

- Three years ago, while I was working in another industry, I came up with the idea of remixing Night Lovell's Dark Light song. Together with my friends Beatshoundz, we created this legend. It was a real game-changer for me. It pumped up on Youtube channels with millions of views. When we learned that the vocal we used was not copyright infringement, we decided to publish it on digital platforms with SSL Music, and everything changed in my life in a year.

Has your sound changed a lot in recent years?

- I can say that it changed a little bit since 2019. But, the main idea is the same. We are the gangsters of EDM! I can say that in the future, I want to try different genres.

Do you feel you can have a more experimental sound in the modern scene?

- To be honest, it is so important for me to create music for people's tastes. I'm ready to produce anything in any sound, but I'm always trying to be unique and different but it must be liked by my listeners.

We all know that the digital revolution has affected sales, but has it affected creativity?

- Of course, but with today's technology, it is easier for emerging artists to reach and connect to the people who love their music all around the world. It's incredible. Every day I see people from different countries enjoying my music and making videos on Instagram and Tiktok. I can not explain that feeling. Regarding the sales, it's not like the old days but I believe that making money on music is easier for the artists than ever thanks to the streaming platforms. Especially, after MP3s are dead. Music is a popular business, so we can not blame people by saying that everybody is making the same music. If people listen to it, then it is all good. If you don't like popular music and searching for music geniuses, there are a lot of them. I don't judge people by their musical styles.

Can you tell us what's next for you?

- There are some cover and original songs we are planning to release this summer, and we continue to work on them with SSL Music. In addition, we made a cover track for Get Busy by Sean Paul and signed it with Lithuania HQ. Lastly, I will release 2 new official remixes at the end of this summer. We may release another album at the end of this year. Very exciting days are waiting for me!
