REVIEW: Sailor of Wrong Era

Thanks to labels such as Wrong Era, a sub-label of Slow Motion, they have managed to allow some artists, inspired by the music of the 80s, of indisputable quality and musical trajectory, ignored by market trends, to emerge and flourish again in the most fair, as is the case that concerns us now, in the compilation that they have just presented, with its darker version, of its international sister label Wrong Era: Sailor of Wrong Era, which bears the name of the infamous Berlin boat parties which became a real event in the summer of 2021… Eighteen tracks divided into two volumes comprising the Wrong Era style itself, crafted by renowned veteran artists and emerging international talents from around the world.

This compilation, which closes the season, is a good example of the good performance of the label, but above all, of its uncompromising potential. In addition, this selection maintains a narrative line that shows that his compositions, marked by genres as peripheral as minimal wave, synthwave, darkwave, minimal synth or coldwave, are not nihilistic, but are part of a process in which, thanks to the mastery of its compilers, it is easy to enter. Its rawness is nothing more than the arduous path towards purification of the spirit. We could almost say that that punk attitude that runs through each song is no longer of the young, since maturity can also be its golden age. Therefore, the best of the compilation is not so much what it contains, but what it promises: once the necessary balance has been made, it is known that what has to come from this Sailor of Wrong Era in the future will be even better.
