INTERVIEW:
Can you tell us a bit about your experience? Where are you from and how did you get into music?
I am from Quilmes, a city south of the Capital Federal in the Buenos Aires Province. I started in an amateur way as a DJ almost 20 years ago. Music has always been a part of my life since my father was a guitarist, and I became more attracted to electronic music in the early 2000s. In fact, I recently made an edit of 'Fascination' to reminisce a bit about those times. You can listen to and download it on SoundCloud.
How is your sound evolving? What artists and genres do you enjoy mixing right now?
I've been fully focused on Indie Dance for many, many years, exploring all the facets of this genre since it is very diverse and full of personality. I can name hundreds of artists within the genre, each with a different imprint. Here in Europe, there's Marc DePulse, Pavel Petrov, Damon Jee; in Mexico, Alvee, Badwolf, and the entire Phisica label in general; in Israel, Rebrn, Horeno; in Russia, Kinky Sound, Jon K; and of course my fellow countrymen like Tomy Wahl, Gueva, Rodrigo AM, and my Slow Cycle companions.
How do you feel your music influences or impacts its listeners?
The truth is that I don't think about it much, but I would like my listeners to feel what I feel when I listen to incredible music. It basically blows your mind and runs through your body from head to toe. If I can achieve that, I feel fulfilled as a producer or artist.
What projects are you working on right now? What can you tell us about your last job?
My main focus, for a few years now, has been to position Slow among the best Indie Dance labels in the world. Currently, we're among the top 20 most renowned labels, which makes me immensely proud, but there's still a long way to go. I'm constantly working on improving the quality in every aspect that contributes to the label.
Has that sound changed much in recent years? What is your musical criteria in your latest work?
Actually, yes. When I started, it was a slightly more underground sound that ranged between 115 and 120 bpm at most. But in the last year, I've been more focused on bringing that sound to the mainstream while still preserving the roots of Indie Dance. Luckily, there are many of us working to make that happen, and I believe it will.
We all know that the digital revolution has affected sales, but do you think it has affected creativity?
Of course, creative processes are always going to be influenced by the environment, but if you're asking specifically about AI, this is just the beginning. I believe we still don't have the capacity to imagine how it's going to affect our lives.
Can you tell us about your present and future projects?
Within my projects, I plan to settle here in Europe to further expand the sound around here. In fact, I have upcoming gigs in Berlin, Marseille, Barcelona, and Dublin, where my base is. I recently performed in Serbia, and outside of Europe, I have a tour scheduled for India in July.
Also I was talking about the label, obviously, I also have a focus on personal growth as an artist in general, DJing, production, and continuing to enjoy the opportunities that this wonderful journey keeps presenting to me.
