INTERVIEW: FRANCO DALMATI

Straight from the vibrant city of Buenos Aires, Franco Dalmati marks his debut on Loot Recordings with two exceptional tracks that dive into the heart of deep and organic house. The release also includes two diverse remixes from Peter Makto and Landhouse.

We have had the pleasure of interviewing Franco and this has been the result.

Can you tell us a little about your experience? Where are you from/how did you get into music?

I’m from Buenos Aires, Argentina and I’m 28 years old. I have always been interested in music. It has been part of my life. When i was fifteen i started taking guitar lessons with my elder brother, Emiliano and listened electronic music in my adolescense. When i was about 18, i decided take a course to became a DJ.

Does your training come from the Internet?

After attending the music academy in Bs As, for 1 year or so, i started studying production of music from the internet together with my brother’s guidance. Emiliano is a well known musician in out city, though he specialises in other genres.

Who have been your main inspirations (both musically and in «life»)?

Talking about inspiration, musically speaking, i guess world wide famous DJ, such as Hernan Cattaneo, Lee Burridge, Guy J and Facundo Mohrr have had a great influence on me. And in my life,  my family has always been of great support in helping me reaching my goals.

And how have they affected your sound?

The sounds of Cattaneo and Guy J have been my inspiration and reference since i started in my adolecense. I always listened to their perfomances and followed their evolution. Today, Facundo motivates me and influences my sounds.

How would you define your sound? And how has your sound evolved so far?

I love all kind of electronic music, but nowadays i produce and play deep house, with its different influences, for example; organic house, progressive house.

What can you tell us about your latest work? What inspired you?

Ask to my latest release, «Spring», at first i wanted to make an EP «downtempo» but the main creative idea and the melody let me to a different place. «More Words», which is the second track, has a more rhytmic groove that complements this release.

What do you want to transmit?

I definitely want this album to transmit my passion to wards music, calmness and relax. The tracks melodies are peaceful and my intention is to touch peoples emotion and make them enjoy and have a good time.

What can you tell us about each theme that makes up your latest work?

I work and strive to provide and enjoyable experience for everyone in attendance, experimenting with different tempos, melodies and rhythms; and keep things fresh reflecting my personal style and likes.

Do you feel like the underground scene will continue to persist?

I guess underground scene will keep going and will always exist. for it represents the creativity of young generations that look foward to listening to new sounds faraway from mainstream music. There is a public that still likes small clubs not over-crowded.

What projects are you working on right now?

Right now, i am working and producing a lot of music. I will launch some tracks during 2024. Together say, in March, i am releasing one song with my friends Maxi Degrassi and Ale Russo at the prestigious label «Bar 25».
