INTERVIEW: Miles Ellis

We had the pleasure of speaking with the great producer Miles Ellis, who releases Uncharted on Limitless Recordings.

Can you tell us a little about your experience? Where are you from / how did you get into music?

Yes, I grew up in a rock n roll family in California/ Arizona , played drums and then ventured into electronic music. I have been a musician for over 15 years , producing 10, working on live improv stuff for about 4 years.

How is your sound evolving? What artists and genres do you enjoy mixing right now?

Becoming more proper and mixable. Goes well with other tracks finally. I like mixing older house and tech records that sound like techno house. From Mr G to Derrick Carter to Kerri Chandler to Don Knox.

How do you feel that your music influences or impacts your listeners?

Makes them hear something I know they never heard of. Give them hope.

What projects are you working on right now? What can you tell us about your last job?

I am working on a few , my last one was with Austin (Osutin) but I also did an EP for my friend Louise who owns CDP Recs in Paris.

It’s a house / tech ep , and I love all the tracks I gave.

Where are you and what have you been doing now?

I am in Miami , I am studying to become a pen tester.

Has that sound changed a lot in recent years? What is your musical criteria?

Yes , I went from very edm to my own sound and my own style of creating music.

Simple but effective. Needs to make you feel something.

Do you feel safe now to play a more experimental sound?

Yes because who cares. It’s your art. Let people judge your art while you make more.

We all know that the digital revolution has affected sales, but has it affected creativity?

I wouldn’t say for me. You don’t make money selling music , you make money playing gigs.

Can you tell us what your present and future projects are?

Haunted Haus EP ;)
