J. Sintax – Never Ending Drama (51Beats): Six Analog Journeys Built for the Dancefloor

A decade after introducing his distinctive sound to 51Beats with the collaborative release Illusion, J. Sintax returns to the label with Never Ending Drama, an EP that encapsulates both his artistic maturity and his ongoing fascination with the intersection of club functionality and experimental electronics. Having relocated permanently to Berlin, the Italian producer continues to refine a style rooted in analogue synthesis, atmospheric storytelling and uncompromising techno energy.
Rather than following a linear narrative, Never Ending Drama unfolds as a sequence of contrasting moods connected by a coherent sonic identity. Opening track "Cosmos is on drugs!" immediately establishes a driving pulse, pairing muscular rhythms with playful irony while introducing the warm analogue textures that define much of the release. The momentum then dissolves into the introspective landscapes of "Dramma", whose immersive pads and restrained pacing reveal a more contemplative side of J. Sintax's production approach.
That emotional tension reaches a beautiful balance on "Circle of Family", a piece where evolving melodies and subtle harmonic shifts create one of the EP's strongest moments. The second half begins with "Rough Meeting", an uncompromising burst of distorted techno that feels simultaneously mechanical and organic, thanks to its guitar-pedal-inspired sonic treatment and relentless groove. "PEEL", featuring Dj Jaci, strips the arrangement back to hypnotic essentials, embracing minimal repetition with echoes of early Villalobos while maintaining a modern production aesthetic. Finally, "Rollercoaster"Â closes the journey by juxtaposing monumental, almost ecclesiastical atmospheres with fractured 8-bit motifs that introduce unpredictability without sacrificing cohesion.
One of the record's greatest strengths lies in its refusal to settle into a single stylistic framework. Techno, minimal, acid influences and experimental electronics coexist naturally, unified by meticulous sound design and a clear understanding of dancefloor dynamics. Every track serves a distinct purpose while contributing to the EP's broader emotional arc.
Mastered by Joao Ceser at Modulol Studio, the release benefits from exceptional clarity and dynamic range, allowing every analogue texture and rhythmic nuance to breathe. Complemented by artwork created by J. Sintax together with Ejnxhi Panariti, Never Ending Drama presents itself as a complete artistic statement rather than simply another club record.
Whether experienced through its vinyl-on-demand edition or in digital format, Never Ending Drama confirms J. Sintax as an artist whose commitment to experimentation never comes at the expense of groove. It is an engaging, versatile and thoughtfully constructed release that comfortably bridges intimate listening and peak-time functionality.
