Lo Dev Alm Explores the Sound of Machine Errors on ‘DVN’, Out via 51Beats

Daniele Pagliero returns under his Lo Dev Alm alias with DVN, a concept album released via 51Beats that explores the intersection of electronica, industrial, dub and ambient through an unconventional compositional approach. Built around the idea of divination, the record treats machine errors as a source of musical inspiration, allowing sounds to emerge from technological unpredictability rather than conventional songwriting methods.

Across a series of cinematic proto-songs, DVN brings together intricate rhythms, ethereal melodies and abrasive textures, creating an immersive soundscape that shifts between tension and contemplation. Its atmosphere evokes contrasting environments, from the restless energy of urban streets to the isolation of a mountain refuge. A shared thread of improvisation connects the compositions, giving the album a sense of continuity despite its constantly evolving sonic landscape.

The project's underlying philosophy reflects Lo Dev Alm's longstanding interest in transforming software errors and industrial noise into musical structures. Active since the early 2000s, the alias represents one facet of Pagliero's broader exploration of experimental music, noise and extreme metal. With DVN, he embraces the unpredictable behaviour of machines as a creative force, delivering an album that finds beauty and meaning in the spaces between intention, improvisation and malfunction.
