Ascendent Dutch duo LUSU shoot skywards with their debut solo Drumcode release ‘Move 2 the Groove’.
We got our first taste of the fast-rising pair last autumn, when they teamed up with HI-LO for the head-spinning ‘DIZZY’. They’ve elsewhere dropped heat on HILOMATIK and Eli Brown’s Arcane, likewise collaborating with Brown on the hit ‘Escape from Planet Monday’ featuring another recent Drumcode debutant Sarah De Warren.
‘Move 2 the Groove’ is supreme. The title track picks up from where they left off with ‘DIZZY’ in term of dancefloor impact. Marked by a hypnotic rap line, elite drum programming and a thrashing mosh pit energy, this is a percussive beast that thrills with each listen. ‘Afterlife’ shows their range, a stunning cut marked by old skool chords and celestial end-of-night energy. Bravo!
The project has an inspired backstory. ‘Afterlife’ began as a rework of Sil & Olav Basoski’s 1991 classic ‘Windows’. With Adam Beyer championing their music heavily, the collaboration quickly evolved into a full EP. As LUSU put it: “We feel the techno scene is embracing more cross-genre influences right now, and ‘Move 2 the Groove’ captures that perfectly.” - LUSU
To date the EP has highlighted events including Awakenings, Tomorrowland, Creamfields and Ultra (Croatia, Japan and South Korea), with support from the likes of Beyer, Eli Brown, Mau P, and Enrico Sangiuliano.
Tracklist:
1. LUSU - Move 2 the Groove
2. LUSU - Afterlife
