Modular specialist David Castellani shares visceral new EP ‘Bodies Tunneling’ on Noetic

Fresh from touring North America with Sterac & Lady Starlight, David Castellani shares the brilliant ‘Bodies Tunneling’ EP – his first original productions in 12 months.
David Castellani and his Noetic label keep building. This year has already been highlighted by a stateside run of shows focusing on live modular performances featuring Sterac & Lady Starlight, MAEDON and the maestro Castellani himself, punctuated by a stunning show at Chicago’s Cermak Hall.
Now settled in Lisbon after a lengthy process to relocate his life and studio from LA, the producer and live act can turn his attention to his first production of 2026 with the powerful ‘Bodies Tunneling’ two-tracker. Castellani conceptualises the work as an exploration of the creative process itself — fluid and evolving, where ideas are uncovered rather than constructed, and where the artist becomes a channel through which the music flows, rather than its point of origin.
“Most of us think that we own or even are our music, or that our art is a direct reflection of us. But rather, I believe it’s more something that we cultivate and empower to grow through us. In the end, the work stands on its own — separate, self-sustaining, no longer ours,” he explains. “Looking at music this way has greatly energized my experience, nourished my bond with music, and wildly expanded the depth of imagination that can be realized.”
Crafted over a year-long period, ‘Bodies Tunneling’ encapsulates this free-flowing consciousness. ‘Bodies’ is the stripped back hypnotiser, punchy and imbued with Motor City energy. ‘Tunneling’ is a visceral full-throttle trip as tightly coiled percussion and driving low-end propel it forward, while textural details and shifting modulation give the track a sense of constant motion, making it an immersive and thrilling journey.

Italian-born, Lisbon-based producer and modular synthesist David Castellani is the founder of Noetic, a hardware-focused techno label home to a quality back catalogue of his own originals, alongside remixes from artists including Matrixxman, Redshape, Voiski, Etapp Kyle and Truncate. As a performer, he has shared stages with artists including Rødhåd, Luke Slater and Nastia, while also curating Noetic showcases featuring Ken Ishii, Sterac & Lady Starlight and MAEDON. Beyond live performance and producing, Castellani runs instrument company Anti-Kulture and is the creator of Eurorack module Precision Disrupter, used by Richie Hawtin. A passionate educator, he previously taught at Chicago’s Columbia College and continues to lead modular synthesis workshops internationally, including sessions at ADE in 2024 and 2025.
