Sasha announces ten new collaborations and ten special international LNOE events, celebrating the artists, music and community that have made Last Night On Earth the imprint it is today and will be in the future. ‘TEN’ will be dropped in instalments, with two three-track EPs in April and May before the full glory is unleashed in June. Events include Miami, Mexico City, New York, London, Berlin…
From global sold-out showcases to iconic records from a diverse range of genre-spanning artists, LNOE has created a unique platform for fresh talent and established names alike, as anyone who has experienced a special set or shared a dancefloor moment with Sasha or LNOE will attest and always remember. ‘As the label hits this milestone, I want to tell our story - the music, unity, expression, and relationships at the heart of the brand,’ Sasha says.
First up, and available now, is Sasha’s hypnotic rework of Photek’s seminal ‘Aviator’. While desperately in demand since its lockdown livestream debut in Sasha’s Beatport ReConnect, he felt the big track needed releasing ‘when you could drop it to 2000 people in a club and they go mental’. Sasha’s immense synth chords and tight drums transform this 2011 hit into a 10 minute club-ready odyssey, you can listen HERE.
‘I’ve always been a huge fan of Photek. The first time I heard ‘Aviator’ I knew it had all the elements of an amazing club record, but the original was too slow, I think it’s 105 bpm. We actually did a rough mix when I was working on Involver 3 that didn’t end up making it onto the album as it didn’t fit the rest of the music, but I’ve always felt it was something really special. Now with ‘TEN’ I just had to revisit it - I thought wow, this is enormous - what are we thinking, we have to put this out there!’
‘TEN’ features a mix of surprise debut collaborations, including Alex Banks (Monkeytown, Ninja Tune), Mr Sosa (Anjunadeep), pioneering live band Pumarosa (supported by Line of Best Fit, Lauren Laverne a.m.m) and some welcome returns; on ‘FaceMask’ Sasha’s evocative production and Felicia Douglass’s haunting vocals unite once more, after their previous joint production ‘Amae’ on Sasha’s acclaimed ‘fabric 99’ compilation. The label’s keeping a tight lid on the other names for now, so expect some big surprises over the coming weeks…
Elsewhere, ever expanding his range, Sasha has created the music for the Da Vinci Genius immersive experience, which just launched in Berlin before touring worldwide. Sasha ‘moved between genres, instruments, sounds and textures to write a score that hopefully respects Da Vinci’s mind-bending, time travelling, visionary genius.’ Always changing, always distinctively himself, Sasha used lockdown to produce and livestream his recent LUZoSCURA compilation, uniting with artists of all ages and stages and creating fresh material exploring genre-bending electronica, ambient, techno and breaks.
‘TEN’ showcases the diversity and heft of both Sasha and his imprint LNOE, as well as the diverse range of talent they have fostered. It marks a special moment for the label, celebrating the story so far and reaching out towards the future.
‘TEN’ will be dropped in instalments, with two three-track EPs in April and May, before dropping in full in early June. Get Sasha & Photek ‘Aviator’ HERE.
