Panooc (they/them) returns to Fortune Signal with the Remedy EP, an expertly crafted blend of high-octane club sounds and nuanced production. Following the success of last year's Make It Real EP, Panooc deepens their exploration of house music, this time drawing inspiration from their experiences in New York City and their work with the XOXA collective. The EP opens with the title track, "Remedy," a full-throttle acid house banger that features a relentless 303 bassline over a propulsive backbeat. The playful vocal sample, "I like it naughty," adds a cheeky, flirtatious element that’s sure to energize any crowd.
The second track, "S&S," shifts the mood with a midtempo groove built around a brooding sub-bass and minimalistic piano riffs. The haunting, wordless vocals, which Panooc has said were inspired by encounters in the New York subway, give the track an ethereal quality. It’s the perfect late-night track, designed to slowly build tension on the dancefloor. D.D. Curry’s remix of "S&S" adds a funky twist, layering the original’s piano and vocal elements over a jacking drum groove and irresistible bassline. A standout release that showcases Panooc’s growth as an artist, Remedy EP proves they are a force to be reckoned with in the underground electronic music scene.
