(ESP) En Madrid el sonido House ha llegado para quedarse. Es un echo. Desde el sello Mate están consiguiendo que el sonido de la costa Este americana sea a día de hoy una realidad a la orilla del Manzanares. Y precisamente es ese sonido, más característico de los grandes lagos, triangulando Detroit, Chicago y Nueva York, el que está haciendo que Rafa Santos, comandante en jefe del sello, muestre que si se puede. Y vaya que si se puede.
Después de sus primeras cinco referencias desde el año 2019, el ritmo de producción es frenético, es el turno de Rafa Santos. Gran conocedor de las herramientas que utiliza, el productor madrileño nos trae desde su We Still Dance un arma necesaria para cualquier maleta que se precie. No hablamos del típico House. Hablamos de ese sonido que en ya bien entrado el siglo XXI, con inclemencias y finales del mundo incluidos, te deja ver que aún hay un sentido por el respeto hacia el sonido puro y real que allá por el comienzo de los 80 se destilaba. Y es que, el disco en si, es un sobresaliente en House.
Cuatro cortes bien diferenciados para todos los gustos. Desde su High Voltage más introspectivo que crea un clímax sonoro con la aparición de ese sample vocal femenino tan sutil y My Life is a Bassline con su groove y percusión que no deja lugar a dudas que es una apuesta segura en una pista de baile. Luego pasando a la cara B nos vamos a un estilo más directo y pistero con un sonido muy Chicago y a la vez con una constante: un uso genial y muy respetuoso de los samples femeninos. Es toda una apuesta segura para cualquier dj que quiera calentar o simplemente endulzar el ambiente.
Después de haber escuchado, probado y mezclado este disco de arriba a abajo la sensación es que Rafa Santos sabe lo que hace, quiere hacerlo y sabe como hacerlo. Y para todos los amantes del buen house que respeta y va de la mano con él: esto solo acaba de empezar.

From its more introspective High Voltage that creates a sonic climax with the appearance of that subtle female vocal sample and My Life is a Bassline with its groove and percussion that leaves no doubt that it is a safe bet on a dance floor. Then moving on to side B we go to a more direct style with a very Chicago sound and at the same time with a constant: a great and very respectful use of female samples. It is a safe bet for any DJ who wants to warm up or simply sweeten the atmosphere.
After having listened, tested and mixed this album from top to bottom, the feeling is that Rafa Santos knows what he does, he wants to do it and he knows how to do it. And for all lovers of good house that he respects and goes hand in hand with him: this has only just begun.
