REVIEW: Brooklyn Baby & Shortcut presents In the Mood

Parisian producer Brooklyn Baby returns to Frappé, the French label to watch out for in 2022,

Brooklyn Baby's latest EP has been included in the playlist of Terrence Parker, Mike Dunn, Daniel Steinberg, Black Loops or Mark Farina, Simon Dunmore to mention just a few! He returns to Frappé, this time collaborating with the duo Shortcut, for their “In the Mood” EP, which will be released digitally on October 21.

The three producers have combined their influences in the studio to deliver a solid 3-track EP, in which the trio delivers inspiring house cuts.

The explosive, drive-infused "Let Your Body Move" opens the EP, utilizing heavy sampler beats and hiphop vocal tricks.

It is followed by the jazz "For The People" which offers delicate piano melodies, soft double bass and organic drums.

"Summer Heat" concludes the opus on an energetic note: this punchy deep house track combines a funk bassline, rhythmic synths, and smooth piano chords.

“In the mood” will be released on all major platforms digitally on October 21, 2022.

Brooklyn Baby is a French DJ and producer based in the Paris metropolitan area. He has released his first EP "Hold it" in 2020 on Fresh Take Records. Since then, he has released songs with various labels such as GLBDOM, Hustler Trax or Fantin Zoo Records. His music is very house and dance floor oriented, built around samples of jazz, hip hop, funk and disco. It takes its influences from the House Scene of the 90s but also from current producers such as Sebb Junior, Angelo Ferrari, Kerri Chandler or Adryiano encore... In 2022, Brooklyn Baby signs its first EP "For The Soul" with Frappé with great success. !

Shortcut is a Parisian duo who, over the last 2 years, have crafted their own take on electronic music in a wide range of productions. His work is blurring the lines between House music and a more minimalist sound, proposing shades of jazz and chillout vibes. His songs have earned a spot on major labels such as Sake, Deux Mesures or Tento.

Brooklyn Baby's mastery of language is total, and here they have once again delved into the past to draw inspiration from another verse, more forceful and melancholy, but no less evocative. All in all, we can safely say that his latest EP is on the verge of excellence.
