REVIEW: Lenz presents 'Still I Rise'

Lenz and German vocalist Moon Aton, deep house duo Lenz return to Color and Pitch with the dreamy, timely and soulful cut 'Still I Rise', inspired by poet Maya Angelou.

It has been a strong musical career, influenced by a multitude of musical styles, until Lenz found his most unique and personal style. With an insatiable appetite, his love for music knows no hierarchies, neither shapes nor sizes. 'Still I Rise' condenses the best of this producer.

This work demonstrates Lenz particular way of understanding sound, located at the antipodes of what is commercial, what is generic, what works: what it does is, on the contrary, a kind of unstable magma of pulsations and flashes, of melodic outlines and blurred textures, pursuing a calm, spiritual, almost ascetic expression. All those languages and influences from which he drew dialogue on this record, creating new, different and highly evolved sound organisms.

The album closes in a soft, ethereal and intense way, while transporting us to a dreamy haven, where calm rules everything. The emotional imprint that this precious pictorial work leaves us is intense and perpetual.
