REVIEW: Tony y Not ‘Send Me Up’ EP + remixes from Budino & Burko, and Ian Blevins

German born and now Brooklyn based Tony y Not debuts on Man Power’s Me Me Me label with the cosmic disco and acid tinged 'Send Me Up' EP, backed by remixes from Budino & Burko, and Ian Blevins, released on 16 September.

Tony y Not's hi-octane electro disco originals are complimented by the first ever remix from Val Budino and Ivan Berko, as well as an interpretation from label alumnus Ian Blevins. Tony y Not supporters include Perel, Curses, Armonica.

Tony y Not said: "I wrote this music when the pandemic first started. Everything was up in the air for all of us and the only grounding thing to do is pour my emotions into my music. And here it is! I felt inspired by the stillness in Berlin at that time in the first lockdown. Nothing was moving and it gave an insight into how much was actually happening while everything was standing still."

Tony y Not’s blend of sounds are as razor sharp as she is. She bounces between clean and upbeat rhythms to funky build-ups to dark synth and acidy disco. A DJ, producer and cosmic event planner, she whips up unapologetic musical cocktails geared to make you move. With sonic influences taking off from her native Germany and evolving to the tune of her travels, Tony y Not fuses together a truly unique blend of tones. Her style dynamically embraces European dance music, from the 80s and 90s till now and multi-genre grooves inspired by her years in Brooklyn. Sprinkling NYC nightlife with effervescent evenings and providing a platform for female identifying artists to craft spaces for all, it didn’t take long for Tony y Not to make an impression.
