Rose Ringed drops two more album tracks ‘The Letter’ & ‘Begging’

Amsterdam DJ/producer/live artist/drummer/jazz pianist Rose Ringed continues counting down to his long-awaited, deeply personal themed debut album with new singles ‘The Letter’, out now, and ‘Begging’ (5^th September). 

Previous LP singles won support inc. Mixmag Netherlands, Radio 538 (+ a recent Hot Mix), SLAM!, Studio Brussel, Byte FM (DE), Deutschlandfunk, Magnetic Mag, and Reprezent Radio’s Dan Alani.

His full LP ‘Mylène’ drops on 17^th October on his Closed Eyes Recordings imprint. It’s dedicated to and narrates the early death of his beloved mother, a jazz ballerina, when he was only 11. This primal loss shaped his life and his music, its emotional heft and euphoric chords intensified by an underlying melancholy celebrating the woman and the mother she was. The music, vocals and lyrics were all created by Rose Ringed himself. Though deeply personal, the album is also universal, a guide through grief, an example of hope, of pain transformed through creativity into art and even joy. 

The two new singles are from the LP’s ‘Stage 2’ where Rose revisits and relives his loss, focusing on her letter kept from him til much later, sparking family conflict through revealing ‘the truth.’ 

‘The Letter’: Pulsing melodic piano chords and steady beat become like steps climbing relentlessly behind a high organ synth lament with vibrato notes, a thoughtful, melancholy piece yet with a strong positive energy. The solo, originally played by Rose on violin, now breathes vividly as a synth adding strength to the story. ‘My mom wrote a letter I never saw, until my aunt gave it to me in 2017 but I didn’t read it until 2023’ Rose says. ‘In the week approaching the day I had decided to read it, I wrote this track. There is a lot of anticipation and tension in it, mirroring how I felt that week.’

Follow-up single ‘Begging’: a slow, sweet piano intro develops into a melodic main theme as Rose’s resonant, emotional voice sings his lyrics of searching for the truth surrounding his mother's passing ‘For me this is the deepest and darkest track of the album, written in a time where I stood alone in seeing the truth.’

Upcoming shows: Rose just announced his HRMY Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) showcase where he’ll be joined by Yotto, Romain Garcia and Susan Right (live hardware set) at Het Sieraad on 24^th October.
