INTERVIEW: Yöurr

Yöurr, a producer and DJ based in Hungary, returns this spring with two original songs: "New Transitions" and "Broken Barriers". In addition, he comes with a remix of the French duo Pandhora for "New Transitions" that aims to fill our spirits with energy.

We are pleased to interview you and this is the result. Enjoy!

Hello Yöurr, thank you for answering our questions. I'd like to start by asking you about your technical approach to creating music. What gear do you normally use?

Hey, thanks for having me! I’m not using anything besides my laptop, I’m fully producing in Ableton. The vst-s I mostly use for synths are Diva and Serum, kind of the industry standard.

What aspects does the equipment you use that you like bring to your production?

I’m experimenting with a live setup (Ableton + and AKAI controller + a mixer) together with my friend who plays the drums. The project is in a very early stage though.

Your EP "New Transitions" is having a very good impact. What were you inspired by to create it? How do you turn your inspiration into a mechanically produced track?

Actually, back in 2017 the first Yöurr song I uploaded on Soundcloud was a track called ‘Transitions’. It sounded quite unpolished, but I’ve always thought some of my best ideas and melodies were included in this piece. It never got released, but when the guys from Pandhora approached me with the idea of an EP, I finally had the chance to utilize the potential of some of these ideas by “recycling” them, combined with the production skills and the sound I’ve developed throughout the years.

How has your sound evolved since you started?

It’s certainly matured a lot and as I got comfortable with the sounds/synths I’m using. I still don’t consider myself a skilled producer though.

How do you feel that your music influences or impacts your listeners?

It’s really hard to tell, but hopefully my songs make them feel happy and energized.

What other projects are you working on right now?

I’m only doing remixes at the moment, I’m taking a break from making originals, and planning to have a fresh start when inspiration is back.
